The Chevrolet Trax is the brand’s most affordable vehicle, and for 2027 it gets a thorough update. Chevrolet announced the changes on October 8, 2026, covering the Trax’s exterior design, its trim lineup, its cabin, its safety list and its technology.

The result is a Trax with a more premium look and much more standard equipment. To make the news easy to scan, we have gone through every update one at a time. The 2027 Trax is anticipated to arrive at Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027.

Update 1: A Streamlined Trim Lineup

Chevrolet streamlined the Trax’s trim offerings for 2027. The lineup will be the Trax LT, Trax RS and Trax ACTIV.

Each trim has distinct details that give it its own character, which makes choosing between them simpler.

Update 2: A New Grille

The front of the 2027 Trax gets a new grille. It leads a set of exterior changes that Chevrolet says give the Trax a more premium look and feel.

Update 3: New Wheel Designs

New wheel designs join the 2027 Trax lineup, and each trim takes its own approach:

Trim

Wheel and Style Details

Trax LT

Wheels with a higher-contrast finish for a more urban look

Trax RS

19-inch wheels, the largest available across all trims

Trax ACTIV

Adventure-inspired look with a unique front-end design

Update 4: All-LED Taillamps

At the back, the 2027 Trax adopts all-LED taillamps. They update the rear view and add to the more premium look Chevrolet describes.

Update 5: A Redesigned Liftgate

The liftgate itself has been redesigned for 2027. Together with the new taillamps, it gives the Trax a refreshed rear end.

Update 6: A Power Liftgate for the First Time

A power liftgate will be available on the Trax for the first time. It is a practical addition for anyone who loads groceries, strollers or sports gear with full hands.

Update 7: A Unique Front End for the ACTIV

The Trax ACTIV keeps its adventure-inspired style, and for 2027 it gets a unique front-end design. That sets it apart visually from the LT and RS.

Update 8: Hexagonal Side Vents

Inside, distinctive hexagonal side vents give the instrument panel a fresh, modern appearance. It is a small detail that changes the feel of the dashboard.

Update 9: More Than 20 Standard Safety Features

Chevrolet upgraded the Trax’s electrical and software architecture. That upgrade enables more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, Safety Alert Seat and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

New standard safety features introduced for 2027 include:

  • Reverse Automatic Braking and Rear Cross Traffic Braking
  • Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Side Bicyclist Alert
  • Front Park Assist and Rear Seat Belt Indicator

These features will be standard on every 2027 Trax, starting with the LT. They support the driver, who remains responsible for driving safely.

Update 10: Larger Standard Screens

Every 2027 Trax will get a new, larger standard 11-inch-diagonal driver information centre. The infotainment screen measures 11.3 inches diagonally and is also standard.

Update 11: Google Built-In and OnStar

The Trax’s interface runs Google built-in with Gemini compatibility, and an OnStar Basics plan of up to eight years is included.

OnStar One will be newly available and included for 12 months. It brings the full suite of OnStar services, including in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot capability and video streaming.

Update 12: Storm Sky Gray Interior Colour

Storm Sky Gray is an all-new interior colour for the Chevrolet brand, and it debuts on the Trax. Chevrolet describes it as a more natural, earthy tone.

Why Chevrolet Updated the Trax

Andrew Barker, brand director for Chevrolet Canada, said the Trax and its Trailblazer sibling have delivered more than 80,000 vehicles since their debut three years ago, helping support GM’s No. 1 position in the small SUV segment.

He said Chevrolet continues to invest in small SUVs, and that these updates bring more standard safety, improved technology and a refreshed design.

From Fishing Boat to Cruiser: Matching 2026 Chevrolet and GMC Models to Your Trailer Weight

Matching a trailer to the right tow vehicle starts with the trailer, not the badge. A 14-foot aluminum boat, a mid-size travel trailer, and a tandem-axle utility trailer each demand different combinations of towing capacity, tongue-weight support, and cabin space. Chevrolet and GMC build across that range for Ontario drivers, from three-row SUVs to heavy-duty pickups, so the better question...
