Top 8 Questions About The Chevrolet Silverado

Top 8 Questions About The Chevrolet Silverado

When looking for a full-size truck, there are certain necessary criteria. The truck must be sturdy, sizeable, powerful and reliable. If you can include stylish good looks, comfort and good value for the price point, even better. That's what you get with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and more.

How Much Does a Chevy Silverado 1500 Weigh?

Size matters when it comes to a full-size truck, and the 2019 Chevy Silverado delivers on that point. The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 3266 kg.

This is an important figure as it dictates how much weight this truck can safely carry. Exceeding this weight can put passenger safety in jeopardy as well as cause damage to essential components, like brakes, suspension, transmission and tires. Having the GVWR helps you put safety first.

How to Adjust Torsion Bars in the Chevy Silverado?

To adjust the torsion bars in the Chevy Silverado, you work from the torsion bar mount. There is an adjustment bolt, which you turn to increase the strength of the spring in the torsion bar, which lifts the suspension and the height of the truck.

Torsion bars are responsible for the ride height of the vehicle. You may want to adjust the ride height for practical reasons (i.e. to accommodate the loads that you are carrying or the terrain that you typically cover) or for aesthetic reasons (some truck owners prefer the look of a higher or lower ride height). Adjusting the torsion bars can also level out your truck if that is the issue.

What is the Difference Between the LT and LTZ?

These are trim designations for the Chevy Silverado, which offer different features:

2019 Chevrolet Silverado LT has:

• Chrome accents on bumpers, front grille, and mirror caps

• Chevrolet bowtie in the grille

• LED reflector headlamps

• Signature daytime running lights

• Available leather-appointed seating surfaces

• 8-inch digital colour touchscreen

2019 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ has:

• Chrome accents on bumpers, front grille, mirror caps, door handles, and hockey-stick beltline

• Power folding and heated outside rear-view mirrors

• Leather-appointed interior trim

How to Install Coil Spring Spacers on Chevy Silverado

To install coil spring spacers on a Chevy Silverado:

• Lift your truck safely, depending on what lift method you are using, loosening the wheel’s lug nuts before you raise it.

• Support your truck’s frame with jack stands.

• Slightly raise the axle with a jack so that it is bearing a moderate amount of weight; take the tire off.

• Ensure that the axle has adequate support from the jack.

• Remove the shock absorbers from the axle, and take the fasteners off of the sway bar. Remove the sway bar.

• Using a spring compressor, secure the spring in place snugly. Lower the axle down, but don’t let it fall off the jack.

• Put coil spacer on top of the spring. Raise the jack back up until your spring and spacer addition is in the right place in the axle and frame. Once this is completed, re-attach the spring coil retainers.

• Reassemble by following the reverse order.

Where is the Chevy Silverado Built?

Through the end of 2019, the Chevy Silverado has been built in Oshawa, ON.

How Long is a Chevy Silverado 4-door?

A double cab Chevy Silverado is 5886 mm long and a crew cab is 5885 mm long (5’ 8” box) and 612 mm long (6’ 6” box).

How to Adjust Rear Drum Brakes on Chevy Silverado

Drum brakes can last a fairly long time if they are properly maintained. To adjust your rear drum brakes on your Chevy Silverado, take the following steps:

• Lift the rear end of your truck with a jack, using all the necessary safety precautions.

• Remove both of the rear tires.

• Remove the access cover to the back of the drum brake.

• Turn the adjuster (it’s star-shaped) until the pads hit the drum. Go back one click.

• It should spin easily. If it is dragging too much, loosen the adjustment slightly.

• Repeat on the other side and replace the wheels.

Where to Find Colour Code on Chevy Silverado

To find the colour code for your Chevy Silverado, look for the white service parts identification sticker. In the Chevy Silverado, this could be located in a number of different places, including in the glove box or the driver door jamb. It will list BC/CC, which stands for "basecoat, clear coat," followed by other letters and numbers that will tell you the right colour.
