This year’s juried collection includes:

• Matt Greenwood – a digital motion artist, based in Guelph

• Claire Bennett – animated works from galleries in Canada, the U.S., and Europe

• Brad Necyk – a multimedia Canadian artist and writer

• Sarah Fuller – a Canadian artist specializing in multimedia

• Vardit Goldner – photography and video artist living in Israel

Taking place at the Mississauga Celebration Square on Monday, September 2nd, Art on the Screens: Juried Collection is a free event, starting at 8 PM.

Celebrate Summer at Your Local Park

Summer isn’t over by the time Labour Day rolls by, but it’s getting close. Get outdoors, enjoy the weather, and visit one of the top five parks in Mississauga, as rated by TripAdvisor:

• Rattray Marsh Conservation Area –hiking, walking, and BBQs

• Port Credit Memorial Park –a nice playground for little ones

• Lakefront Promenade Park – protected harbour with two marina facilities

• Jack Darling Memorial Park – old trees and lakefront views

• The Riverwood Conservancy – bird watching and nature trails

With autumn quickly approaching, enjoying the warmth and sunshine on your long weekend is a great way to spend time with friends and family. Visit a popular park, discover a new one, or stop by your local community park this Labour Day weekend.

Jr. Jays Back-to-School Weekend

The Toronto Blue Jays are playing baseball at home against the Houston Astros over the Labour Day weekend. Kicking off a three-day homestand with Star Wars night on August 30th, the Blue Jays are celebrating Jr. Jays Back-to-School Weekend on August 31st and September 1st.

Fun Jr. Jays activities for kids under 14 during this special event include:

• Special group packages and ticket offers

• The chance to win prizes at multiple carnival games around the stadium

• Playing on inflatables and getting your face painted before the game

• Running the bases like the pros following the game

• Chances to be part of the starting lineup or step in as guest announcers

Although the drive from Mississauga to Toronto might be long, the struggling Blue Jays would appreciate the support. For the sports enthusiast, sports-themed getaways are a great way to spend the 2019 Labour Day weekend.

Be a Tourist

If you’re not visiting Mississauga from another city, sometimes the best vacations are the ones that are close to home. By jumping in your vehicle and seeing the wonderful sights of Mississauga, you can revisit landmarks, share moments with the kids, and maybe learn something new.
